The Gifts
I’ve compiled a selection of my favorite kitchen items for you to peruse. I hope you find something you like!
On a whim last year, my husband and I picked up a bottle of Kosterina’s Crushed Tangerine Vinegar at Whole Foods, and we were instantly smitten. It was tangy, sweet, deeply citrusy, and almost drinkable. We’ve used it in everything from salad dressings to mocktails; it’s genuinely one of the tastiest vinegars I have ever tried.
If you’re looking for a Mother’s Day Gift, I highly recommend checking out Kosterina’s Mother Day Sale, which includes gift boxes filled with bottles of vinegar, olive oils, and flavored olives. You can use my code, ‘HCC15’, for 15% off your first order. And note that May 5th is the deadline for getting your Mother’s Day orders!
Please note: I do receive an affiliate commission from Kosterina if you purchase any items. However, I would never recommend a product I didn’t truly love!
the best cooking essentials for mom
Boos Block: Boos blocks are some of the best-rated cutting boards out there, and for good reason! They’re heavy, sturdy, and high-quality.
Note: To keep the wood smooth and crack-free, I highly recommend purchasing their food-safe mineral oil/cream combo, which I use on my board once a month. I like using a kitchen towel or paper towel to smear and rub a generous amount of oil all over the board. I do the same with the cream, then stand the cutting board upright and let the oils seep in overnight. I wipe off any excess in the morning, and I’m good to go! There’s a full video explaining the process here.
Shun Knife: After receiving a Shun knife for a birthday gift, I couldn’t believe how sharp and precise my cuts were! Plus, they have free lifetime sharpening.
Staub Ceramic Bakeware: I love how pretty this bakeware is! And there are lots of colors to choose from.
Aeropress: If your mom is often on the go, an Aeropress is a great option because it makes a good cup of coffee in just a couple of minutes.
for the mom who loves organization
Ceramic Berry Basket: Okay, this is loosely organization-related, and it *may* have started as a purely aesthetic purchase on my end, but it really is helpful to have a container after rinsing your berries. Do note that the basket is quite large!
Rubbermaid Food Storage Containers: I absolutely love these airtight, sealable containers! They come in several sizes, perfect for everything from pantry goods to grains to baking ingredients.
for the mom who loves cookbooks
The First Mess Cookbook: I’ve been making at least one of Laura's recipes for the last few months. Her vegan recipes are nourishing, flavorful, and seasonal, which I need during the week!
That Sounds So Good: “That Sounds So Good” is the perfect title for this cookbook by Carla Lalli Music, where every single recipe just sounds. so. good! From her spicy seafood stew to her crunchy and juice feta salad, you’ll find great options for quick weeknights and slow weekends alike.
Food52 Genius Desserts: I’m a big fan of Food52’s genius recipes, where Kristen Miglore seeks out hidden gem recipes that use clever techniques or ingredients to elevate the dish. This is an excellent option for the mom who loves baking!
for the mom who loves entertaining
Colored Wine Glasses: I’m obsessed with colored wine glasses, and these come in a variety of colors, from teal to pink to iridescent.
Ornate Pitcher: This is the most gorgeous floral pitcher!
Small Duralex Glass Tumblers: I love having a set of smaller glasses for some freshly squeezed juice at brunch or a nightcap.
The Kulhad: On the subject of small vessels, these handless ceramic cups are incredibly special and perfect for sipping tea.
Marin Blue Dinner Plates: How gorgeous are these soft sky blue plates? They truly feel one of a kind.
That’s all for this week! Hope you have a wonderful weekend.
