Hi friends,
This week, I'm sharing two delicious recipes to celebrate the upcoming holiday season. First in line is my mussels marinara—a simple yet elegant dish featuring briny, flavorful mussels immersed in a savory marinara sauce and generously adorned with a blend of herby breadcrumbs.
Now, for the star of the show—crispy potato latkes to celebrate Hanukkah! These latkes boast a deep golden-brown exterior and a salty, melt-in-your-mouth interior, perfect for pairing with my homemade applesauce and a dollop of sour cream. We adapted the recipe from an old index card left by my husband's grandmother, so they're very much rooted in tradition.
Weeknight Dinner: Mussels Marinara with Herb Breadcrumbs
This easy yet elevated mussels marinara recipe features tender, briny mussels in a brothy marinara sauce topped with herby breadcrumbs. The meal comes together in about 35 minutes, making it a tasty choice for a weeknight or last-minute dinner party. Serve with some crusty bread to sop up all the juices!
For those of you who might find cooking mussels daunting, fear not! I genuinely believe they're one of the more approachable proteins. They’re actually quite easy to clean and prepare. And, of course, I've compiled all the tips and tricks you need to embark on this culinary adventure with confidence.

Weekend Project: Grandma Figa’s Potato Latkes Recipe
These crispy fried potato latkes are a wonderful dish for Hanukkah, adapted from my husband's grandmother's version. I’ve also included my favorite simple applesauce recipe to go with it!
Expert Tip
For the perfect latke, use a frying thermometer to ensure the oil is at the right temperature (about 350°F - 360°F)! If it's too hot, it'll burn on the outside; if it's too cold, it'll turn greasy and soggy.

That’s all for this week. Have a great weekend, and happy Hanukkah to those who celebrate!
